"And the city is going about its business of being the great big unstoppable organ of aspiration that it is, refining and streamlining the human experience. And the stumbling block lies there, half dozing..."

CAUSE AND EFFECT
What causes you? Are you a common recurrent condition? Do you find that you happen often? If and/or when you happen, do you feel the need to be seen or heard, or have parts of yourself touched, by a specialist? Are you seeking metaphysical relief from a practitioner with a substantial girth? Do you require ointments or a mustard poultice? Are you prone to erosion when exposed to the unforgiving eyeball of reason?
You're in the future and bodies are obsolete. You're in the future and you have no body at all. No eyeballs. No earwax. No anus. You are an ever-expanding mist of sensory gratification, without beginning or end. No socks with holes in. No eggy stains down the front of your shirt. No dandruff. Nothing. Just pullulating vapours. And never ending pleasure.
Lying on its side, resting an elbow on the ground, head propped in the palm of an open hand. It's got this padded body suit on. Makes it look like a giant pupae or chrysalis or something. And it's blocking the pavement. The stumbling block. And the city is going about its business of being the great big unstoppable organ of aspiration that it is, refining and streamlining the human experience. And the stumbling block lies there, half dozing, half meditating, whistling a long forgotten tune, tapping its fingers on the concrete floor. Biding time. Waiting for someone to slip up, waiting for someone to fall.
Huh? What do you mean, What kind of meat is it? Where do you think you are, kid? Coming in here with your What kind of meat is it? It's meat. Meat. You know, meat. Ex-mammal. Used to stand in a field of faeces, eating and breathing and urinating down its own back leg and now it doesn't because it's meat. Meat. Cooked or raw. Now, make your choice and move along, you're causing a meat jam.
